Digital Image Processing Laboratory

Developing new methods to recognize patterns in digital images, with special emphasis on the development of new methods for biometrics in faces, iris, and people. These techniques have made it possible to carry out methods for access control based on faces and iris. Applications have been developed to detect gender and age based on faces.
Applications are also developed for the detection of objects, vehicles, people, people counting. In particular, new tools are being developed to prevent accidents in the mining area through cameras that detect the presence of vehicles and people to avoid dangerous interactions.
The laboratory has various types of high-resolution digital cameras, computers with multiple cores for parallel processing, and graphics cards that allow the implementation of algorithms in CUDA.
