Academic Council
Article 21 - General Regulations of the Faculties of the University of Chile
The Departments will have a Department Council whose number of members will be defined by the Faculty Council for each of them. There shall be members with specific functions who shall be appointed by the Director of the Department and a number not less than the number of appointees, of members elected by the academic faculty. The members of this Council may belong to any of the academic ranks.
The directors of free election will last two years in their functions, being able to be re-elected.
Student representatives (undergraduate and graduate) may also participate in this Council as guests, when the subjects merit it, and will be elected according to what is established by their student organization of Faculty.
Article 22 - Functions of the Council
The Department Council is responsible for:
- Approve the annual academic development plan and the corresponding budget.
- Approve the proposal of an academic, made by the Director of Department, so that he fulfills the function of Assistant Director. Once approved, it will be proposed to the Dean.
- Approve the project and service management plans submitted for consideration by the Department Director.
Any other duties assigned to it by regulations or entrusted to it by the Director of the Department.
